What an Ionic Foot Bath Did For My Family

By Willie Jones Although ionic foot baths have been available for several years, especially in the UK and Europe, it is still relatively unknown in the USA. Our experience with it first originated when my 6 year old granddaughter was diagnosed with lymphoma. To hear the news that a loved one has cancer, especially when it is a child, is devastating to say the least. What were we going to do? Our family has always leaned towards alternative medicine so we decided to research everything we could to see if we could handle this without doing the traditional chemotherapy and radiation. If we couldnt, we would go with the traditional methods. We were very fortunate to have a very dear friend who pointed us in the right direction and hooked us up with a very knowledgeable doctor whose understanding of the human body and the effects of nutrition and environmental pollution, and how it relates to health, was absolute gold for us. The first thing he did for us was change her diet. No sugar, no junk food what so ever, just pure nutrition for her body. She also took 37 different vitamins, minerals, herbs and homeopathies 7 times per day. Half of them were in liquid form that she could mix in with a little juice which made it a lot easier for her. Basically we discovered that her body was over acidic from environmental toxins and too much over processed foods and disease thrives in this type of environment. We had to make her body more alkaline with health building nutritious foods, vitamins and herbs. We also had to get all forms of chemicals out of the house and have her use natural shampoos, soaps, tooth pastes etc. We also discovered that she was riddled with parasites so some of the herbs she took were for handling that. What a shock to see what was coming out of her body. Because she was so toxic, we were introduced to the ionic foot bath which she did on a regular basis. I am not a doctor but my understanding of the foot bath is this: In a common plastic bucket, you place the metal array in clean water that has a little sea salt in it. The array puts out a very small current with positive and negative ions that circulate through the body. The oppositely charged toxins attach to them and by osmosis the toxins are pulled out through the pores of the feet. The clean water starts to change color depending on what organs are detoxing. Dark brown/black- is the liver detoxing Orange- the joints Yellow- urinary tract Dark green- gallbladder Black flecks- heavy metals Red flecks-blood clot material White foam- lymph nodes draining In all fairness, the water will change color to some degree without feet in it because the metal, water, salt and minerals will react. But what you are looking for is the sludge that floats on the top of the water that stains the sides of the bucket. We found some independent studies done with and without feet and it showed the mucus in the water that just the water, salt and the metal array wouldnt produce by itself. In my research on the subject, some say, dont worry about what color the water changes to. Instead, notice what it is doing for you. I saw before and after pictures of blood samples of someone doing a foot bath. Before, the cells were clumped together in chains, and the after picture showed free flowing cells. I was so impressed by the ionic foot bath, I purchased one for myself and my family. I had severe arthritis in my right elbow and I couldnt straighten my arm. After about five half hour sessions, I started to notice my elbow was not hurting as bad. After about nine or ten sessions, the arthritis was completely gone and I had complete motion back. After a year, my arthritis has not returned. What a blessing to be pain free. My self and several family members reported a more clear headed feeling after doing a foot bath. To make a long story short, my grand daughter is free of cancer and has been for two years. She has maintained her healthy lifestyle and nutritious meals and regular foot baths for maintenance. It worked for my grand daughter and myself. Will it work for you? I dont know! That is something you decide for your self. It is just my opinion that anything that helps you detox safely could only be good for a body. Doctor, Why Can’t I Loose Weight and by the Way Why Do I Feel Sick?

By Dr. Steven Zodkoy Doctor, Why Cant I Loose Weight and by the Way Why Do I Feel Sick? This the number one question heard in my office and in physicians offices throughout America. There is a strong relationship between weight gain, difficulty in loosing weight and feeling sick. Candida Albicans, an opportunistic fungus, is often the link between weight gain, feeling ill and the difficulties people have with loosing weight. Focusing on removing Candida Albicans from the body rewards the dieter with a feeling of well being and weight loss that is steady, sustainable and healthy. Americans are embracing the low carbohydrate diet for its ability to reduce their waist size and weight even when other diets have failed. The more important benefits of a low carbohydrate diet are usually lost in our obsession with weight. Low Carbohydrate diets have been used by nutritionists and holistic physicians for decades to control Candida Albicans. The weight loss and feeling of well being that accompanies a low carbohydrate diet is mostly associated with controlling this serious, but often over looked health condition. I often see patients in my office who want to lose weight and have tried every diet and pill on the market with little success. During their history they often reveal a list of symptoms and complaints that they feel have no relationship to their weight problem. These patients do not realize that their weight problem and their other complaints are symptomatic of a more serious health condition known as systemic Candida Albicans. By concentrating on treating the underlying Candida Albicans my patients are able to loose weight and improve their overall health. Betty F. . . was consulting with me for continued weight gain. She was finding it difficult to stick to a diet and exercise, partly since she saw such limited results. During her consult she admitted to gas, indigestion and fatigue. Her history included birth control pills, antibiotic use and several yeast infections. Her treatment plan included a low carbohydrate diet, nutritional supplements, and anti fungal herbals. She returned is 4 weeks, she had been able to stick to the diet with much greater ease, she felt more energetic and had no more gas. She was even happier that she had been able to loose 9 lbs. She reached her goal of a total weight loss of 22 lbs over the course of 3 months and has been able to keep it off. She now sticks to a sound diet and only takes a multi nutrient with herbals. Candida Albicans is opportunistic yeast that often over whelms the body after antibiotic, may be passed from person to person with the exchange of body fluids, and from direct contact. It may be found in the reproductive tract, the mouth, the GI tract and in the blood. There are several common signs of Candida Albicans including vaginal yeast infections, thrush, jock itch and athletes foot. Candida Albicans has been linked to a number of health conditions including; asthma, depression, dizziness, fatigue, headaches, hypoglycemia, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), learning disabilities, menstrual problems, Migraines, Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Syndrome (MCSS), Prostatitis, sinus problems, and Urinary Tract Infections (UTI). One of the major secondary problems associated with Candida Albicans is weight gain. A number of the problems associated with loosing weight and staying with a diet are doing to Candida Albicans. A person with systemic Candida Albicans will often crave sugar and simple carbohydrates because this is the main source of nutrients for yeast. Mood swings and depression are often associated with the rapid change in blood sugar levels caused by the yeast. Patients often complain of gas and bloating caused by the fermentation of foods in their intestines by the yeast which naturally release gas, just like in Champaign and beer. The fermentation of foods in the intestine may also lead to alcohol production that is absorbed through the gut and may lead to symptoms of confusion, altered behavior, and difficulty concentrating. Determining whether you have a Candida Albicans can make a big difference on how easy you will be able to lose weight and keep your weight loss off. Questions to determine if you may have Candida Albicans: 1. Have you used antibiotics in the last 2 years? 2. Do you have gas or bloating? 3. Do you have sugar cravings? 4. Do you have low blood sugar? 5. Do you have history of yeast infections, vaginal, oral, athletes foot, or jock itch? 6. Does your partner have a history of yeast infections, vaginal, oral, athletes foot, or jock itch? 7. Are you sensitive to smells? 8. Are you sensitive to alcohol? 9. Do you suffer from symptoms that your doctor cannot explain like; headaches, migraines, depression, diarrhea, dizziness, IBS, menstrual or sinus problems? 10. Do you feel fatigued all the time? 11. Do you have a hard time concentrating? 12. Do you just not feel right? Candia Albicans can be diagnosed by a blood analysis by your physician, though many traditional physicians do not regularly order this test. A major problem with treating Candida Albicans is the low regard most physicians place on controlling it spread. A recent study showed that 27% of nurses and 33% of doctors have Candida Albicans on their hands in a hospital. You can get a reasonable idea if you have problems with Candida Albicans by answering the questions in the box above. A yes answers to 6 or more questions above, associated with any of the signs or symptoms listed above, is a good indicator that you may have a Candida Albicans problem. Dr. Mark Leder, a chiropractor and nutritionist in NYC, states I have treated thousands of women for weight loss and I find that over 75% of them are suffering from Candida Albicans. I tell them, you want to loose weight,? You want to be healthy? Deal with the Candida problem and everything else will follow. A low carbohydrate diet is the first step to dealing with Candida Albicans, but an herbal anti fungal is just as important. When Candida Albicans presents itself as a vaginal yeast infection or athletes foot will often be treated with medication. Medications may be oral or topical and can be in prescription or over the counter strength. The problems with medications is that they are often short term and or do not get to the root of the problem. To properly reduce the amount of Candida Albicans in the body a low carbohydrate diet is the first step. Nutritional and herbal supplements are also key components. Regular intake of natural anti fungal supplements gives the body a chance to gentle and slowly reduce the amount of Candida Albicans in the body. There are a number of natural anti fungal herbals and products available on the market, but quality and effectiveness vary greatly. One of the best products available, through physicians offices only, is called RxBotanicals Diet Enhancer which contains powerful anti fungal and natural herbal relaxants. The combination of anti fungal and natural herbal relaxants found in RxBotanicals Diet Enhancer gentle lowers the amount of Candida Albicans in the body while making the dieting experience easier and more successful. America will continue to focus on the weight loss associated with low carbohydrate diets. Nutritionists and physicians will continue to embrace the multitude of health benefits associated with a low carbohydrate diets with herbal remedies and its relationship to reducing Candida Albicans in the body. Fitness and Beauty

By Jerry Goodwin Does physical fitness automatically equate to physical beauty? Can one increase their beauty by becoming more fit? I hear questions that equate to this everyday. I am a Personal trainer and many people do in fact equate being fit and healthy to being more attractive to the opposite sex. Each day I receive questions on how to improve various parts of the body. Many women want to know how to get round firm derrieres and men want tight six-pack abs. The reasons for these desires abound but many times the main reason is simply because they want to look better. They want to be more attractive to the opposite sex, more beautiful if you will. So what all do we need to do to become more attractive both to our own self and to others. The same techniques we use to become healthier will help us become more attractive. We should eat a healthy diet full of natural whole foods quality protein from lean meats, fish and chicken, fresh fruits and vegetables. If you are just starting to try a healthy approach to beauty a full body herbal cleanse may be a great start. This will help to clear much of the built up toxins out of the body as well as help you drop some unwanted pounds. I have seen estimates that as much as 15 lbs of dried dead material is decaying in most peoples digestive tract. Get rid of this and you help you stay healthy. Use food that the body digests better and you wont build that much waste up in the colon in the future. A lifestyle change that encompasses both dietary and exercise is the best way to go. Do not try to do too much at one time though, if you do you will likely burn out and end up getting nowhere. Adding an exercise program to your already busy schedule may seem overwhelming but if you think of it as an appointment for your health then you are more likely to keep doing it. Set up a time and place for your exercise and schedule it just as if you had an appointment for a million dollar deal. Isnt your health worth a million dollars? Personally I see nothing wrong with a woman or a man for that matter getting a pedicure or a manicure or other beauty treatments at a spa or similar place. A massage always makes me feel healthier and give me more energy for my next workout. Below is a few more suggestions to help improve your health. If you smoke, STOP. There is absolutely nothing attractive about having a burning hunk of weed sticking out of your mouth. All scientific evidence points to the fact that smoking is harmful to your health. If you dont smoke thats great but stay away from those that do, harmful residue and second hand smoke may be as bad as actually smoking. A good friend that was a little league coach and excellent father literally smoked himself to death. The X-Rays of his lungs were unbelievable. Excessive drinking is the same as smoking, if you do it stop. Drinking small amounts of wine or eating small amounts of dark chocolate may be healthy as long as it is not overdone. Drinking excessively hurts everyone especially you. I cant tell you how many good people I have known in my life that have literally drank themselves into an early grave, destroyed their liver with alcohol or caused other health problems because they would not stop drinking. Physical beauty often shows on the outside but comes from the inside. There are numerous things you can do to help bring out the beauty in you. Reading motivational books, listening to self improvement tapes and Cds and just thinking positive thoughts can all help you become a better person. Simple things like taking some time out of each day or at least each week for some me time can be a great help to your health and beauty. Go to a fair, go to a park, go swim in a meadow, go fishing with a friend or family member or just relax in a hot tub. Take some time to allow your body and mind to totally relax. Girlfriends

By Ken Marlborough The term “girlfriend” has various meanings in different contexts, regions and communities. Sometimes, the term literally means a friend of the female gender. The plural form of the term is used to describe a group of female friends, while the singular is used to denote close friends of the female gender. Depending on the age of the person using the term, it is possible the term has no romantic connotations. For example, a seven-year-old boy can have a number of girlfriends, without any notions of “breakup,” “ex-girlfriend,” and so on. However, during adolescence and beyond, depending on the gender of the person using the term, “girlfriend” can even employed to indicate a fiance or wife. In general, however, the term denotes an intimate relationship between two people of different or similar genders. The term has no legal implications, and being girlfriend-and-boyfriend is only considered to be a casual relationship between two consenting adults. Broadly, there can be two types of girlfriends. Some are the temporary friends, who make do for “arm candy” or company at a social function. The purpose of this type of relationship is simply to be seen together; the two might not even know each other. The other kind of girlfriend is the candidate for eventual life companion. Having a girlfriend is sometimes considered to be the most important aspect of a man’s life. As a result, a preponderance of the products and commodities one sees today are buoyed around the incessant need of a person to have intimate relations with the other gender - whether the brand is projected towards men, women, boys, or girls. Some products even go so far as to blatantly advertise themselves as the single most important vehicle in the search for girlfriends. Whether having a girlfriend in today’s metrosexual lifestyle is as important as it was in the ’80s and ’90s is not clear, but it is proven that when a person does have a girlfriend, the condition has a psychological effect. This is because, depending on the compatibility of the two, a girlfriend may eventually become a wife. A girlfriend can have a positive or negative effect on ones social life. Some girlfriends are supportive and adaptive to the various ups and downs in the lives of their boyfriends, whereas some girlfriends can levy a stultifying effect on their boyfriends lives. Girlfriends provides detailed information about girlfriends, finding girlfriends, gifts for girlfriends, and more. Girlfriends is affiliated with Relationships. Christmas Stocking Sock Monkeys

By S. Roberts Year after year does Santa Claus bring you socks? They might be a great gift for Santa in Lapland but on the whole they are a pretty unimaginative stocking filler. Well we have a fantastic idea to turn a boring old pair of socks into a cute, cheeky, little sock monkey. All you will need is… A pair of socks in any size, needle and thread, toy stuffing, 2 buttons for eyes and a sewing machine is an advantage but not essential Take the first sock, turn it inside out and lay it out flat heel up. Mark out the centre of the sock up to 4 cm below the heel line. With a dewing machine, if you have one, stitch 1 cm away from the centre line and sew down towards the ribbed part of the sock. Sew down to the bottom edge, turn away from the centre line and sew across the ribbed section to form a foot. Stitch the other side of the centre line to match. Now cut up the centre line to divide the legs. Turn the sock the right way out through the hole at the monkey’s crotch. Lightly stuff the monkey’s body and legs and sew up the hole in the crotch with invisible stitches. Lay the second sock out flat in a side profile position and cut out relevant parts as indicated in the diagram. Tail Fold in half and stitch up the long side, tapering the ribbed edge to a point. Turn, stuff, turn the ends in and attach to the monkey’s bottom. Mouth Turn in edges and pin the oval shaped mouth to the main monkey just below the toe. Stitch invisibly in place leaving a small opening. Lightly stuff and close opening. Embroider on a mouth. Arms Fold in half and sew up the long edge and across the ribbed edge. Turn, stuff, turn the edges in and stitch in place on the monkey’s body. Ears Put two ear parts together with right sides facing. Sew around curved part of the ear and turn right sides out. Tuck the bottom edge up inside the ear and fold the ear in half. Tack half way along the bottom edge to form a fold in the ear and stitch in place at the side of the monkey’s head. Eyes Stitch buttons on the front of the monkey’s head above the mouth. Pull the hat on to the monkey’s head For illustrations and photos see www.santaspostbag.co.uk/how-to-make-sock-monkeys-christmas-toy.html S. Essential Oils Storage - So That You Continue Benefiting For Years

By Bryan Josling The importance of storing your essential oils in a proper manner can be estimated from the fact that women in the 19th century would ask their jewelers to design special bottles to hold their perfumes and essential oils. Luxury apart, storing essential oils in specially designed bottles helped keep the therapeutic and aromatic properties of the essential oils intact. It is common knowledge that most of the essential oils become contaminated or their effect gets weakened with time if they are not stored properly. Citrus oils are the most susceptible to early breakdown. They oxidize and begin to lose the aroma and therapeutic properties. The citrus oil becomes cloudy and a sweet fragrance is emitted. This signals towards the deterioration of the essential oil. Same does not apply to oils such as frankincense, sandalwood, patchouli, and myrrh. They can be stored for a longer time. In fact, they improve with time. In the older times, Egyptians used to embalm the dead people with the essential oils of cedar wood, cinnamon etc. When one such tomb was opened in the early 20th century, traces of the oil were clearly visible. Will you not like to keep your treasured essential oils in the same manner? Lifetime of the essential oil ranges from 6 months to several years. Through a proper storage, one can increase the shelf life of an essential oil. The following section provides lessons in storing essentials oils. Dark amber, cobalt blue, or violet glass bottles are the best when it comes to storing essential oils. Sunlight can be very harmful for the essential oils. Ultraviolet rays, which are a part of the sunlight, weaken the essential oil. This explains the reason why it is not advisable to store essential oils in clear glass bottles. Sunlight easily passes through the clear glass bottle, thus producing reaction in the essential oil, and no longer rendering it effective. Plastic bottles too must not be used as the plastic dissolves with the essential oil and thus is contaminated. One can use aluminum bottles to store the essential oil, but the inner surface of the container must be lined. Your essential oils need to be kept away from sunlight as far as possible. High temperature can be harmful to the oil. Therefore, the place where the essential oil is stored must not be near any heater vent or any such heat-emitting gadget. Keeping the oil in a refrigerator can help increase its shelf life. Nevertheless, freezing is not acceptable. When cooled at very low temperatures, some essential oils will cloud. It regains its original state when brought to room temperature. Certain citrus oils continue to be cloudy even when brought to room temperature. However, this does not affect their therapeutic properties. We tend to contaminate the essential oil in the process of using them. The following checklist will be helpful in preventing contamination: Never touch the top of the orifice reducer or the inside of the cap. Always use separate pipettes for separate oil. The pipettes must not be carriers of oxygen. When one uses the pipette for taking out the oil, a few drops of it remain in the pipette. This becomes contaminated when it comes in contact with oxygen outside. When the same pipette is used again, it contaminates the whole bottle. The cap of the bottle containing essential oils must not be kept open for long. Since they are volatile, they will evaporate. The cap of the bottle containing essential oil must be selected carefully. Rubber droppers have a tendency to turn into gum when they come in contact with the concentrated essential oil. Keeping these points in mind, one can surely increase the shelf life of the essential oils. This might require a few extra efforts and might become expensive in some cases, but your treasured essential oils truly deserve this. Dietary Recommendations After Gastric Bypass Surgery

By Jim Duffy When obesity gets out of hand, unresponsive to dietary, lifestyle and medical interventions, drastic measures are needed to cut down calorie intake. Morbid obesity with a BMI (body mass index, a measure of malnutrition) above 40 kg/m2 is an indication for surgical procedures such as gastric bypass surgery. Gastric bypass is now a well-trodden path to lower BMIs and achieve healthier lives in 18 months or so. First used in the 1950s, only the last two decades have seen safe and successful gastric bypass surgery with any consistency. Half a century of meticulous observations and patient follow-up has led to the formulation of strict guidelines to ensure desired results. Gastric bypass is a series of steps initiated starting with the decision to undergo the procedure. Identifying existing nutritional deficiencies is the first step towards surgery. Vitamin and mineral deficiency often occur in obesity, and need to be addressed before the procedure. The surgery itself has two goals; to reduce the volume of the stomach and shorten the food transit time in the intestine. After surgery the stomach cannot receive large meals or participate in digestion. This by itself limits food intake. Food also bypasses a large part of the intestine and has little time to interact with liver and pancreatic enzymes. As a result, nutrition absorbed from diet drops drastically. In most types of gastric bypass surgeries done today only 50 cm of the intestine is allowed to function in normal fashion. Compare this to food absorption taking over 7 feet of small and large intestine before surgery. With such a radical reduction in the capacity to assimilate food, the postoperative period can be rather tricky. Only clear fluids are advised for the first two days while waiting for gut to recover. The gut is then re-trained for about two months before it can go back to a normal diet. During the recovery period the limitations imposed by the gastric bypass procedure should be kept in mind. After surgery the stomach has become much smaller and can only hold approximately eight ounces at a time. The stomach has also lost its ability to pulverize food to initiate digestion. Consequently the appropriate diet for postoperative recovery would be a liquid to soft solid diet that can be taken six to eight times a day in small quantities. Nutrient fluids are preferable since they can provide hydration and energy at the same time. Non-nutrient fluids are best avoided or at least restricted to in-between meals. The type of nutrient chosen also deserves due consideration. The chosen macronutrient should not affect the stomach emptying time while providing enough energy to recover from the surgery. In this regard carbohydrates and fats are at either end of a spectrum and neither is suitable. Carbohydrates pass through very quickly and produce very uncomfortable symptoms like vomiting, bloating, diarrhea and sweating. Fat slows the gut considerably, and it is oftentimes ruled out because of its direct link to obesity. Research suggests that the macronutrients of choice after gastric bypass surgery are proteins. Proteins do not change gastric transit time significantly. A high-protein diet can also provide enough amino acids for repair and growth after a major surgical procedure like gastric bypass. Apart from these advantages, a high-protein diet has a special role in the treatment of obesity. Gastric bypass restricts excessive calorie intake to prevent weight gain. However, accumulated adipose tissue also needs to be expended to achieve the desired weight loss. The basal metabolic rate (energy expenditure) should be increased simultaneously to burn stored fat and reduce BMI. This can be achieved by a high-protein diet since proteins in diet increase the basal metabolic rate by stimulating protein synthesis. Observations made during the postoperative period also confirm this proposition. Unless a high-protein diet is provided, weight loss often ceases despite controlled consumption. Currently, a protein intake of up to 90 grams per day is recommended in the post-operative period. Given the trauma and the limitations the gut is subjected to during the procedure, such a high protein intake can be difficult to maintain. The gut is hardly ready and often fails to assimilate proteins and energy from traditional foods and diets. Therefore, a sugar-free fluid protein concentrate with a high bioavailability, adequate essential amino acids, vitamins and minerals is the most appropriate diet in the post-operative period. Digestion is further facilitated if the protein concentrate is already pre-digested, or hydrolyzed. Such a nutrient fluid can simultaneously supply concentrated energy and hydration even when taken in small quantities. After recovery and return to a normal diet divided over 3 to 4 meals per day, a high-protein concentrate is still a relevant supplement between or during meals. The protein supplement continues to provide thermogenic action necessary to lose weight essential to sustain weight loss. It also compensates for any amino acid deficiency in the diet and maintains nutrition on bad days not uncommon in the months and years after a major surgery. Moblie Phone Ringtones Future Prospects

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Alen_Wilson]Alen Wilson Ringtones are all about personalisation and have proved to be a fashion statement. People may choose their own style and not care about what is popular but they keep themselves updated with the ring tone trend. Today with everyone wanting to have the latest in ringtones, the market has grown at a pace faster than expected. Ringtone sales are on the rise and have even overtaken CD sales. Many artists are making money from ringtones, charging up to $4 for each ringtone. Ringtones sales have also overtaken legal Internet download services, such as Apples iTunes, which generates under $100 million a year worldwide. Ringtones have appealed to people so much that they have now become a fashion statement. Sound quality is also improving day by day; latest handsets are supporting polyphonic ringtones and real tones, which are nothing but actual music clips. The success of these ringtones has created a huge opportunity for mobile operators. It has been estimated that mobile downloads could account for 20-30% of music sales by 2006. The speed with which the ringtone sales took off surprised just pretty much everyone. The reason behind the immense popularity of ringtones is the easy download process involved. You simply have to send a text message and the ringtone will be sent to you with charges automatically being added to your phone bill. The popularity of ringtones among the young generation shows that kids care about music in a very definite way. They’re taking the song they like and using it as a way of displaying their identity. Now the question is whether the ringtones sales will continue growing at break-neck speed, or whether MP3-phones that offer consumers the ability to play full tracks will result in their end. One thing we know for sure is that at the moment, an increasing number of people are using their mobile phones to download ringtones and are paying a pretty heavy price for them. Through a combination of increased ringtone availibility and desire to personalise ones mobile phone with ones favourite ringtones, the growth in the mobile music arena has flourished. There is currently a demand for musical ringtones, but it is believed that with new phones being able to play MP3-quality music, there will be no need for this market. iTunes and MP3 technology will prove to be far more efficient than purchasing ringtones. The user friendly format of iTunes and MP3 will be so appealing to customers that the market will see the demise of the ringtone industry. The iTunes phone ultimately gives consumers more choices and the power to personalise their phone on a daily basis without additional costs associated with ringtones. Finally, time will tell if ringtones will be singing so long or if two related digital music markets will emerge. Overcome Evil with Good

By Robert Crutchfield Overcome evil with good. A nice idea isnt it? But what does it mean exactly? How do we apply this neat idea to our Christian walk? The phrase comes from the 12th chapter of Pauls letter to the Romans. It is found in verse 21, Do not be overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good. It can be said that the book of Romans is written in three parts. In the first Paul presents the gospel, this lasts through Chapter 8, from there through Chapter 11 he outlines Gods plan for the Jews and the Gentiles. In the last third of the epistle he lays out practical lessons for the members of the church in Rome. I t is one of these lessons we wish to explore now. It is interesting that in Chapter 12 Paul was speaking of evil in the context of those who were being persecuted for their faith. Paul himself was persecuted and eventually sent to death by the Romans on account of his faith in Christ. In a broader sense this verse does not just apply to those who would persecute us for our faith. It applies to any person or group that does not treat us well for whatever reason. May times over the years I have counseled very angry Christians who had been wronged by someone in some way. Their comments are always something along the lines of Well Ill show them! If theyre going to do that to be me theyll be sorry Ill… This reaction is perfectly human. But it is not Gods way. The whole theme of Chapter 12 is that we should not return the evil done to us with evil. This would be vengeful. Vengeance is the province of God alone. What God expects of us is to return increasing amounts of goodness and charity toward those who wrong us until it reaches a point they can no longer mistreat us. In fact in the NEW LIVING TRANSLATION this same verse reads Dont let evil get the best of you, but conquer evil by doing good. God expects this of us not because it is easy, but because he knows it takes great effort on our part. In his famous commentaries Mathew Henry has this to say The line of our duty is clearly marked out, and if our enemies are not melted by persevering kindness, we are not to seek vengeance; they will be consumed by the fiery wrath of that God to whom vengeance belongeth. I am particularly struck by Henrys use of the term persevering kindness. “We are not to react with kindness that can survive only kindness in return, but kindness that can repel the worst evil. What a spiritual weapon to have!” When Ive worked with people in this sort of situation what Ive always told them is its not about them, its about you, and the kind of person you want to be. The sooner you make Overcome evil with good a daily part of your Christian walk, the sooner you will be closer to God. Remember always vengeance belongs to God. Our weapon is the overflowing goodness that comes from our relationship with Christ. Build your sense of kindness at every opportunity, and wage war with it whenever evil strives to make you its own. The Art Of Anniversary Gifts

By Michael Russell Every year brings with it countless celebrations commemorating one thing or another that occurred at some point in history, also known as an ‘anniversary’. Anniversaries can be related to most anything but for the sake of narrowing things down wedding anniversaries will be the topic for this article; more importantly, anniversary gifts. To celebrate such a day as a wedding anniversary requires nothing less than a spectacular gift exchange. You’ve probably heard the stories of how so and so bought so and so a new car or a huge ring but the point of this article is not to break your check book but to enlighten you as to how to give the best anniversary gift each and every year. The length of the marriage will help in determining the anniversary gift to be given. If the marriage is young, you don’t want to go all out. The first few years will entail flowers of course and then usually dinner and something of value but not too expensive, maybe a gift that compliments a hobby of the loved one. Keep in mind that you are going to have to outdo each year as the marriage progresses so you do not want to start out with something that cannot be topped without filing for bankruptcy shortly after. The most important part of the anniversary gift at the beginning of the marriage is always the remembering part, which will always be crucial, but when the marriage is just starting out young couples are still euphoric from the plain fact that they are married so over the top anniversary gifts are not yet needed. As the years progress and number five rolls around you will want to make this a little more special. You should know your loved one quite well at this point and this will help greatly in selecting the perfect anniversary gift. Start listening to them for the six months leading up to the anniversary and try and home in on what they really want and then play it off in such a way that the gift becomes something of a fantasy that may or may not come true one day. This is where the element of surprise will also aid you in your quest to wow your spouse. As the anniversary draws closer make sure the anniversary gift is acquired and ready to be given, many plans have been thwarted by the sold out response from certain vendors or suppliers. Now the gift is the highlight of the anniversary but make sure you lead up to it in a way that will become memorable. Do not just hand it to your spouse but gently present it, for instance start the time with a meal; lunch or dinner depending on the time and then spend some time talking, reflecting upon the marriage. When you feel the timing is right spring out a card you should have purchased and then throw a little hint about the anniversary gift you have hidden and is waiting to be given. This is obviously a generic blueprint, but I’m sure you get the point. Use your own creativity and you should be able consistently to pull off the best anniversary gift year in and year out.
